THE SYSTEM DISPLAY

Let's take a look at the system display in more detail. First, an overview.

SYSTEM DISPLAY OVERVIEW

The System Display shows the planets that make up a given system. The system star is shown on the left, and the planets radiate from left to right as they are farther away from the sun. Unless the system is completely uninhabited, there will be the System Information Panel on the lower-left corner.

SYSTEM INFORMATION PANEL

The System Information Panel shows detailed information about the system. At the top is the system name, and below that is the system data line showing the total system population, the system [Popular Support], and the system capital (or sector capital if it is filling that role) Below that is the sector data that the system is assigned to. This contains the sector name, the sector tax that is being collected for that sector, and the sector capital planet. To the right of that information is the sector treasury. This is tapped whenever the sector's ADM is used for Edicts. Note that like planets, when the sector's treasury drops below $10m, it is subsidized by the Empire.

Below that is the system and sector governors (if the roles are filled). You can hover your mouse over their names to get a data tooltip, or click on the names to open up the Character Interaction Display.

Finally, there is a box showing where the system is located in the quadrant, for reference purposes.

To the right of these displays are the System Edicts available and Pending. To select an Edict, left-click on the name (it will turn red when it is moused over). This will open the Edict Creation Display. To delete a planned Edict, click on an Edict in the System Edicts Pending box. This will delete the Edict and return the ADM to the planets/systems/sectors/Empire where it came. You will not, however, get any materials or money spent back, so think carefully about cancelling Edicts!

PLANET INFORMATION PANEL

The Planet Information Panel (PIP) shows detailed information about a selected planet. Depending on the scan level of the planet, this will show different information. A planet can have one of 4 scan levels:

  • NONE - the planet is known, but it has never been surveyed
  • ATMO - the planet has had an atmospheric survey done. At this point, the bio rating is known
  • GEO - the planet has had a geological survey done. The mineral values of the planet are known, as well as the tectonic rating
  • FULL - the planet has been fully explored and mapped, and may now be colonized or an outpost may be created

If a planet is not inhabited, the main information bar will show the planet's name, scan level, and class. If the planet is inhabited, then the main information bar will show the name, population, total ADM, class, and type of colony. In addition, if the planet is colonized the window will show the planet's average development level, the planet cash flow, the unrest level, and the planet viceroy.

Depending on the scan level, the planet ratings may not be displayed. The status of the planet is also shown across the window - whether the planet is colonizable, uncolonizable, or in progress to be colonized. To enter the Planet Information Display, you may click on the Planet Detail Display button at the lower-right of the PIP.

SYSTEM DISPLAY OVERVIEW ICONOLOGY

Sector capitals are notated by a large gold star to the left of the planet name. System capitals are notated by a smaller silver star. Planets with starbases are notated with a starbase icon below the left-hand side of the name, and the class (I-V) is next to the icon. Planets with Edicts in progress are shown next to the starbase icon (if present) in yellow, and green when the Edict is about to go into effect.
